Miracor Medical Systems, a company developing the PICSO® technology for acute coronary syndrome and heart failure patients, was on June 16th, 2010, granted an European patent that protects its core PICSO® technology.

The patent protects the advanced algorithm controlling the inflation and deflation of the balloon used to intermittently occlude the coronary sinus. This advanced algorithm, also called the “Wien Algorithm”, has been developed and refined by Miracor for effective and safe occlusion of the coronary sinus. The granted patent also protects the ability to infuse a perfusate into the vessel being occluded.

This patent is one in several Miracor patents that are granted or pending approval in Europe, the US and Japan. The patent family has been designed to protect Miracor’s recent developed PICSO® technology in important markets worldwide.
