| 14/05/09 | New patents filed in Europe and the US for the Miracor PICSO® Impulse Catheter technology. Miracor today filed two new patents in Europe and the US to further strengthen its patent portfolio for its core technology. The two patents are directly related to the development activity that the company is undertaking for the PICSO® Impulse catheters. As the mechanism to maintain the position of the catheter in the coronary sinus during pressure build-up is important, the first patent addresses different methods of how to obtain a stable catheter position in the coronary sinus. The second patent details a method of how to place a biaxial guide sheath or catheter into the coronary sinus. This patent is important to gain safe and fast access into the coronary sinus thereby starting the PICSO® procedure immediately after coronary revascularization. Prof. Werner Mohl who is the inventor behind the patents said: “I have realized that the success of the procedure will rely on how fast the access to the coronary sinus can be achieved and how stable the catheter is during the procedure. These two patents are fundamental in order to address these two important clinical and practical needs.” Miracor has been granted or filed a total of seven patents related to the PICSO® technology. |
