14/02/09Miracor completes first trial in Vienna with new catheter.

In its first preclinical trial Miracor today completed the test of its prototype PICSO® Impulse Catheter. The trial was completed at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria.

Dr. Cesar Khazen who inserted the catheter through the jugular vein explained: “This first prototype catheter was very easy to insert into the coronary sinus and this test shows the feasibility of a fast and safe procedure in the future. I am very excited about the opportunity to work with this new technology and impressed how quickly we were able to get to this first trial.”

This trial was the first in a series of tests the company will perform in order to develop the new catheter. The company will undertake a series of preclinical trials before the catheter design is finalized later in 2009.

CEO Jon H. Hoem said that “I am very impressed by the ability of the Miracor team to deliver a first catheter prototype after only four months of development activity. We will continue to work with our medical partners to fine tune our catheter technology and make sure that the communication flow between the users and our engineering teams is continuous and strong. This will build a good foundation for further innovations for our PICSO® technology.”
